Message to our incoming Arizona Assurance Scholars, 4.7.2021:
Hello incoming Arizona Assurance Scholars! We are so excited to work with you and to offer support and resources. To begin your UA journey, we strongly recommend our AZA students participate in the New Start Summer Program. By participating in New Start you will take 6-7 units of credit, meet incoming 1st year students, develop a network of friends, peer mentors, tutors, and professional staff. As an AZA student and Pell grant recipient you are also eligible for the New Start Pell Promise. Which means your direct costs are covered (tuition and fees) and you can assist in meeting your AZA program requirements even earlier! Mark your calendars for for an unforgettable summer! To learn more about New Start visit the website: https://newstart.arizona.edu/ . To apply to New Start, visit the Admissions website and login: https://slate.admissions.arizona.edu/account/login
About the Arizona Assurance Program
The Arizona Assurance Program is an invitation-only program. If you meet all the eligibility requirements you will be invited to submit a Resource Evaluation. Based on the information provided on the UA Admissions application, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Resource Evaluation, students will be selected to receive Arizona Assurance funding. You will be conditionally selected if you have been asked to verify student and/or parent tax information and the tax verification documents have not been submitted to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA). This conditional selection will be revoked if you (A) miss the deadline(s) to submit documentation requested by OSFA or (B) a review of documentation (i.e., tax verification documentation) submitted to OSFA causes you to lose Arizona Assurance eligibility. Final selection for AZA is based on a thorough review of all documents submitted.
A full list of requirements and more information can be found here on the Financial Aid Website.
